overlook
I fail to notice
the fire
and smoke
and destruction
on the earth
I fail to see
the demon
that had created this
mess
I only see
the evil smile
that doesn't reach
the eyes
I see
the fake pleasure
and only the hurt
it is giving
not to others
but itself
I see the messed up life
behind the lives it is messing up
I see the distress
and the wound
it has hidden behind revenge
I see
the hand
hoping that
someone would reach
over
and hold it
and I see
the brave
fighting for what they love
but I also see
that the fighters would never
reach out
and ask "are you okay?"
you can only be a lover
or a fighter in this world
I see
that the evil
need the love the most
that they care more than we do
that their lives
were harder than ours
that they are fighting
and destroying
and insulting
themselves
and not the world
they want the love
the compassion
that they have seen
everyone else
give to one another
they desire a hug and a handshake
they don't have one
who is willing to die
for them
they're fighting and destroying
and hurting and insulting
the world
but they really
are
just doing it
to themselves
no one will love them
no one will
because they are suffering
in a way
no one can forgive
they only need
one to help carry the weight on their shoulders
but no one will
and they care
and love
more than we ever can
but we don't know that
so they don't know it either
but I do
so I hold out my hand
and ask
"how are you?"
