The Pieces We Give
I gave her all that I had.
I gave her my mind and my body.
I gave her the very soul in which I possessed.
I gave her the world that I had resting atop my fingertips and allowed her hands to hold what was mine.
I gave her the penny in which I found upon the ground.
Even the smallest of possessions I owned were given up for her.
All for her.
I gave her every spare second before our friends arrived for our group sleepover.
In those moments I gave her my limbs, my hips and my shoulders.
My lips and my legs were hers to keep.
We gave each other the moments we had free in our day to day lives.
I gave her my thoughts, my fingertips, my corners and edges.
I gave her the things no one else wanted to own, for if one of my jagged edges came too close they may have cut them.
She gave me her all.
She took in my corners and edges and rounded them to perfection.
Yet in the end she too left me once again leaving me stranded with jagged edges.
