Deserted
There are plenty of movies where people who are stranded on a deserted island get saved. But what happens if you are stranded in your own mind?
You don’t have helicopters or boats–they aren’t looking for you. There is no flare gun to fire into the sky. It’s you. Just you.
You and your thoughts. Will I ever make it home? Will I be stuck here forever? Will someone come to save me? You have no knight in shining armor, no Disney prince coming to rescue you.
You’ll be sitting on the beach in your brain. No trees, no clouds, no brilliant colored birds flying high above. The water is black and cold. You have no idea how deep it goes. You only know there is life on the other side.
You can hope to reach it, but is hope enough? Is hope the thing that convinces you to cross that ocean?
You don’t need to have hope for the future. You just need to be curious enough to step into that water. Start swimming: see where it takes you.
Written about how it feels to be in a depression episode.
