Long ago, when horses first appeared

They were shaking like a leaf, so afeared

A circus man seized the day

And captured each of them, one by one

Locked them up in a cave far away

Felt miserable, a little Stallion

He addressed the other horses and said

that he had a little plan on his head

That was, they would run away when the man is in bed

That night, when the man was asleep

The horses tried to go away so far

But the man woke up and had a peep

and began chasing them with his mouth ajar

The horses ran happily, freely like megs

to prove that they were not eggs

And that's how they got their fast legs

Inspired by Rudyard Kipling.

I wrote this poem for a competition when I was about 11 and I won the first prize.

So, I thought of sharing it here.
