Star Gazing
Each one is a gift
Carefully placed
Where the sun no longer shines
Glistening with the softest haze
Illuminating the night
They silently hum to one another
Whispering the sweet nothings of night
Their eyes glimmering with hope
For the promise of a new day
Everything is in its place
As you lie on the itchy brown grass
You point a finger to the sky
And smile
Forever hidden behind the darkness
A sense of comfort melts into your soul
Even when darkness threatens to swallow you whole
The stars are a promise
That one day, you will wake up
And you will learn to let the light in
One day, the birds will sound beautiful again
The sun will rise as it always has
But this time, you won't hide under your pillows
Willing for it to leave
Time will pass by faster
The air becomes easier to breathe
No longer hidden behind the blanket of night
Healing finally finds you.
