Life didn't go as planned,

A winding road, a twisted land.

The path we chose, so full of strife,

The twists and turns, a constant life.

We learned to adapt, to bend and sway,

To find our way through each new day.

The detours, the setbacks, the pain,

Taught us to cherish life's simple gain.

So though life didn't go as planned,

We'll take the lessons we've gained.

And find the beauty in the strife,

In this life we've lived, this life we've gained.

The author's comments:

Hello! My name is Siah Giji, and I am a freshman in high school. English is not my first language, and I am proud of how far I have come in my writing journey. It has been a challenging yet rewarding experience to communicate my thoughts, emotions, and creativity in a language that is new to me. I view writing as a bridge that connects people across different cultures and backgrounds, allowing us to share our stories and insights. This competition is a chance for me to further develop my skills and to share my unique perspective with a broader audience.

Thank you!
