I watch as my smile fades.
I watch as my friends seem to come less,
I watch as all the world forgets my existence.
Do I care?
No, no I don't, or atleast that's what I tell myself.
Maybe if I just say I dont care, I'll feel it someday.
I try not to care.
I try my best to seem happy,
and for a while it fulfills me.
But soon enough,
I feel empty.
Like there's no one inside me.
Like my soul has been swallowed,
by the problems I cannot escape.
I watch it,
My smile was fading,
but now its gone.

I was introduced to this website today, by my language arts teacher, who I am very close with. When I got home I immediately created an account to see what this site had to offer and I'm so glad I did. It's only 8pm and I've already been inspired several times by all of the writing and art I have seen so far.
I wanted to submit something of my own so I looked into my old poetry book that was sitting in my nightstand drawer, then I found this piece that I wrote on November 28th, 2022. At first I thought it was cringy and then I read more and I think it is actually pretty decent. Not my best work, but still decent.
