The blustery weather chills me from the outside in.
Not enough to make me cold, but enough to make me chilly,
and enough to let me know loneliness reeks around the inevitable corner.
Because each time I’m in the car,
I’d like to pretend you’re there.
That you’re here now,
and when it all freezes stale,
should you be the one to pour my tea for me.
Yonder is the ice,
Beyond the inside is the out,
though,
shan’t I allow my longing heart to freeze over.
I feel as if I wane in your absence,
enough to put a hole in me,
but it’s never beyond repair.
I await thee,
and once thee always comes along thy snowflakes,
As always and expected
We rejoice.
Shall the light I see not be rays ricocheting off Earths white blanket,
but rather,
The light the floods when my eyelids droop,
and I know,
No matter for how long or how far should they be shut,
I will awaken in the warmth of your arms.
