A Poem for One: Gloria Casarez
Gloria Casarez is someone
Someone who has done many things
Such as creating better housing
And by making LGBTQ+ people feel safe
Gloria has done this
In many ways
But most importantly
By creating a culture of community
She was very dedicated
To making Philadelphia
Feel more accepting
And wanted it to feel safe
Gloria did all of this
By being a policymaker
And served as a director
Of LGBTQ+ affairs
Gloria accomplished some other things, too
By bringing forth a bill of equality
And organizing some marches
And bringing people together
Gloria has made a big impact
In many communities
Especially the ones she's a part of
Such as the LGBTQ+ and the Latino communities
She's had an impact on them both
By doing activism work
Giving them recognition
And making them feel at home and not alone
Gloria was also kind and generous
Helping anyone in need
And giving them the time of day
Regardless of who they are
She's done many more things
Such as becoming an executive director
And building testing centers
And even starting a march
Gloria's accomplished a lot
She's achieved many things
And helped many more
All in just 42 years
