I think I have begun,

just as the day tricks me with

the quick tease of spring

I have already won

but it has yet to come

and the flowers will sprout out

of the ground 

each petal opening up

in slow motion 

rising, rising

up to the sun

up my spine 

it is all always in me

a verse written in my very bones

life waiting for me to breathe it out

 

I feel my lungs, I close my eyes, I rember
