Sleeping Away To You
A pat on my back as I slowly drift to sleep,
I hear a hum of a lullaby as I start to count the sheep,
I pray for a slumber so deep and a slumber filled with dreams,
So I may see you again by under any means,
Because the real world is cruel and gray,
And breaks me day by day,
But the world with you by my side
Is so bright,
So light,
And unbelievably all mine.

I hope this piece brings comfort to anyone going through a stage in their life where they are separated from their loved ones, whether due to death or distance. People say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but it also causes pain. I hope this poem gives you comfort and the reassurance that you will see your loved ones again in your dreams.
