I am a leaf in fall
Hanging from a tree
Still after
All my friends have fallen
And I am alone

In the midst of winter
The tree is dormant
So I must struggle
To not blacken and die
Yet I am alone

When spring comes around
New friends grow again
So I have many friends
But none are as smart as me
So I am alone

Summer beats down
My friends do not store
Sugar for the winter
No one understands why I prepare for the winter
Now I am alone

Fall rolls into me
And everyone leaves
Falling gently to the ground
I say goodbye and brace myself for the harsh winter months
But I am alone
