Held Her Stance
She was so strong in such a weak way.
She’d go by with each day, a smile upon her face.
Offer you advice, grab your hand if you slipped.
She’d catch your fall, always.
Yet at the end of the day,
That smile was wiped off her face along with the rest of her beautiful disguise.
She’d never let you see her at her worst, she protected loved ones from seeing the other side of her.
She’d sob and scream until her insides ached with emptiness.
And you’d see her the next morning and she’d smile and pretend, as if life was picture perfect.
