Silence
Silence is a hard thing to live through.
All he can think is that if he did it better-
If she had listened to him
If she had told him
Maybe things would be different
But she met him only with silence
“Love, we need to talk”
He says,
But she doesn’t speak
She doesn’t pick up
She doesn’t listen
Silence is a hard thing to live through.
And in the end, it doesn’t last
Tired of running away,
Tired of hiding, she picks up when he calls.
It’s too late
Too late to go back
Too late to mend the rift between them
Too late for so many things.
They have both changed,
Grown up
Moved on
Silence is a hard thing to live through.
But it doesn’t matter anymore
They talk they laugh
She cries
He has a girlfriend
They fit well, pieces of the puzzle
Nowhere for her to squeeze through to him
No cracks in his armor.
But she still loves him
Silence is a hard thing to live through.
Harder still is knowing your love loves another.
