Steady pulse, born pure
big, bold as love
Introduced to life
it has been robbed
of innocence, hope, pride
Hurt, broken, scarred
pulsing with fear of the world
Taken adrift
by the sea
of sins
The pulse slows
poisoned with hatred of fate
It turns cold
the fear is gone
It dies
diminished.
