I Didn't Sign Up For This
I feel it beating,
bumping
in my chest, throwing me off the center
I once had. When did I receive
such a nasty, painful thing
as a heart? Emotions flow
without ceasing, pounding in my head,
grinding, against my former thoughts.
I didn't want
to feel this deeply. I didn't sign up for heart-break.
I didn't want to love you.
I want, no,
I need, to rid myself of this now. Tear it
out and dash it on the ground. Oh, wait.
You already did that.
