The Rush
Super Duty spelled out in quick-silver on the front bumper,
four thick wheels and a roaring engine under the hood.
Cab tall and high, white side gleaming in the sun,
An empty truck bed lies awaiting its load.
I take my place over the tire bed,
settling in on the side, fingers
grip tight on the edge, slight
bend in the knees
for shock.
We ride.
The wind roars in my ears,
hair snapping in the rush,
breath caught,
erratic heart,
soaring,
soul.
