Southern Lullaby
Cicada, sing your Siren’s Song softly,
Call me to thee,
Tempt and tantalize me.
Grasp me with your ghostly gaze.
Dance and dream with me for days.
I will climb to your celestial canopy,
As your melody melts mildly.
The closer I creep and crawl,
The more you fallacy seems to fall.
You elude me each and every evening,
Soundly stupefying me as you sing.
My meager mitts move to meet that mystical matter,
As it suddenly ceases to create its cry.
