chains cold in a steady grip
the controlled prostrated at its feet
an order changes all
puppets with string
obeying without question

a person steps out
demolishes the chains
burns the strings
curiosity kindles in hazel eyes

I stare speechlessly into those eyes
everything fades
I wake with a start
realizing that those hazel eyes
that burned with curiosity
were…

…mine
