"When we were yonger, we used to think dandelions were flowers, it's not until we grew up that we begun calling them flowers. Dandelions never changed. Our standards did."

Lollipops turn into cigarettes.
The innocent ones turn into sluts.
Home work goes in the trash.
Mobile phones are being used in class.
Detention becomes suspension.
Soda becomes vodka.
Bikes become cars.
Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
When protection meant wearing a helmet?
When the worst things you could get from boys were cooties?
Dad's shoulders were the highest place on earth, and mom was your hero?
Your worst enemies were your siblings.
Race issues were about who ran the fastest.
War was only a card game.
The only drug you knew was cough medicine.
The only things that hurt you were grazed knees,
and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?
And we couldn't wait to grow up...
Well this is it.
Is it what you thought it would be like?

This was so good, and so true too. The flow was awesome. I've really liked all your poems. I love the line, "When getting high meant swinging on the playground." It's just great.

learn from your past to live for the future.

This is so sad but so true, and I thank you for putting it so bluntly as apposed to the rest of us who would sugarcoat it until you wouldn't recognize the real thing.  Great job.

Get up and Raise your Voice!

Wow, this is really good. It makes you think... Why is there such a big difference between the teenage mind and the child mind, but only so few years?
