Heaven Used To Be

When I was young,
I thought Heaven was on the clouds,
The puffy trees,
Close enough to watch over me,
To far away from touch,
To far away to join,
And the rain,
Which fell on my face too often,
Was just God and his Love,

I got older,
As all children do,
My belief in Heaven,
And the Great Beyond,
Faded away,
Until those things,
Were nothing more then dusty books on a growing bookshelf,
Religion was a stupid thing for a preteen to believe in,

Heaven on clouds,
Seem to fall closer as I grow older,
Scars hide beneath long selves,
And sometimes I wonder if God is out to get me,
Or is that just my own doing?

"You read too much!" Balbulus was always saying. But what was she to do? Without words she would die, she'd simply die.

I liked this poem! It made me want more! Sounds like the speaker in the poem is going through a tough spiritual journey. I hope that he/she finds the light at the end of the tunnel.
