we always want what we can't have
a fancy car
flawless makeup
the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend
dazzling jewelry, a huge house
a plane, a million dollars

but why must we always want more?
why can't we settle for what we have?
a car that runs
the face you have
someone who treats you fair
and loves you for the way you are
happiness to bejewel you
a house that is a home
a ride with friends
money won't buy true love, friendship, or happiness
why must we always want more
when we have everything we need
right here, right now
what we have

The author's comments:
People are always wanting more than they have. Many dont realize that they don't need that state of the art Cell Phone, or two hundred dollar jeans. They ignore the fact that there are hundreds of people who would be proud to have food on the table, a roof over their heads, or family that cared about them. We should learn to appreciate what we have in life, especially now in such a troubled time in the world.
