The Nightmare
All alone he searched himself while holding his breath
Terrified, he searches his heart
His soul
The memories
The secrets
Resurface
Horrified, he tucks the memories
The secrets
Back in the deepest corner of his heart
He walks slowly
Pleading
Begging
For someone to help
Scared
And tired of running
Alone
Afraid
Worried
That the next stop
The next step
Would be his last
He walks faster
Runs farther
His legs are screaming
Aching
Hurting
But he still runs
Runs from his past
Runs from the thing that been chasing his very heart
He’s losing his mind
His soul
He’s going out of control
The fear grows
And grows
It never fades from his memories
His secrets
That he’s kept inside
This fear is all that he knows
The nightmare that awaits him
Searches him
Makes him run faster
And farther
He falls
He crawls
To get away
Away from the nightmare
