And the clock struck
twelve, we were out of
time, scrambling for the
door scrambling for the
way out of the rabbit
hole, glass shoe left
behind, golden hair
snagged on a branch
the opening is so
close yet so far,
just above my head
almost too far to
reach, hoping we can
make it, hoping we will
survive as the final
stroke fell
