I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again. <br /> -Oscar Wilde

Black. Simple. Unchanging.
But Effervescent. Shades
In a life. Shades of
A dark unknowing.
Shades of anger.
Shades confusion.
Shades of love.
Shades of ecstasy.
Shades of hate.
Shades of understanding.
Shades of happiness.
A light comprehension
Of shades. A death of
Shades. But Effervescent.
Unchanging. Simple. Black.

A fascinating idea, and beautifully articulated in this miracle of poetry. It is a strange and new thought to me; I must dwell on it. Well done.
