my fingers hover above emptiness,
and i look for words that won't heal
me no matter how i position them.
you asked me why i bother,
and i told you i don't know what else
to do with myself and if there even is
an opportunity for change.
we all need it but toss it down
onto the sidewalk 'cause really,
what is a penny for your thoughts?
