Psyching myself out
I shouldn’t watch scary movies before bed
Need to get some cold water
Pass the safest room, the parents’ room
Downstairs in the kitchen
What is the dog barking at?
Who left the door cracked open?
What was that outside, a raccoon?
Who’s there?
What was, ahh….
Rough hand over mouth
Rock to head
Nothing but...
“Creeeek”
“Rib bit”
Lights out sleepy head
