Gone.
Restless nights
Spent tossing and turning
Because my December sun has set
Everything once had, now burning
From chapter one
To the end of the novel
You were seen and heard
But now, I grovel
A year passed
The winter, spring, summer, and fall
Each had its peak
But now, I cannot stand tall
The sun above now set
Bringing everything good along with it
The stars faded, the moon covered
The sky no longer lit
Rain caressing the windows
Music comforting the ear
Sending messages
Throughout the year
Christmas time once again
Memories brought back
Realizing how much I miss the past
Happiness is what I lack

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Wind, Sand and Stars, 1939, translated from French by Lewis Galantière
