Days without Sun
When the leaves crunched
 like our dreams beneath feet.
And the sorrow over ran the clouds in the sky,
our hope flying like a stray balloon,
escaped from a child’s loose fingers.
 We didn’t cry tears then
but felt them down our cheeks,
a distant memory from when we were free.
 My hand had clutched his
 and his clutched mine.
 no sunset to watch,
 windows tinted dark
 so we watched each other.
 So we watched the dream
 crumpled under
 arise
 Again
