Caskets

Our memories are another soul
Walking alone, in and out of sight
With the twitching street lights.
Your eyes are ice picks in my spine
Ready to define the pain of
Goodbye.
I could sit by the bed and pretend
That holding your hand will prolong
Each breath.
If I could I would take us
Out of our own heads and
Dead-weight bodies that are only
Caskets for our hearts.
Don't stop moving
I'll be an empty machine
Trying to construct what you meant to me.
A faceless spirt
Crying for you to show me
The way out of existence.
Don't let me become old enough
To forget our stories.
