Pitfalls
It’s not what you think
 It creeps up on you
And envelopes you in an invisible, warm embrace
You think you’re higher than the mountains
 And lighter than the clouds
And soon you’re falling through free air
With the feeling that nothing can touch you
 But then your free-fall ends
And you find yourself face first in the rocks
 With no way out
You cry aloud and wonder, how did this happen?
You felt so safe, so secure
But now the weight of a thousand worlds
 Presses against your delicate chest
And before you know it, time works its magic
And separates you from all wounds
But oh, you’ve learned your lesson
That love isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
And people are never as they seem
