Battling the dragon
September 24, 2010
I’m caught by the dragon once again
gleaming scales flash
with leering scarlet eye, he taunts
with languid complacency
he expects me to acquiesce
trails of oppressive smoke invade
my soul
an attempt to make me less than whole
but I hold myself erect in his face
I battled this monster before
I know enough to look to his eye
and defy
when he tells me I can’t escape
from his prison
because I’ve already learned to be free
