In the Eyes of a Child
They say nobody is perfect,
 But to me you are.
I watch in awe as you
Do what no one else can.
 I emulate you, because
I need to be just like you
If I want to be perfect, too.
You walk on water to me.
You’re everything I strive to be.
 Even when you’re losing yourself
In the bottom of a bottle.
 Even when your sharp words
Bring tears to the eyes of others.
And even though, when I do wrong,
 You sometimes make me hurt.
 You’re everything to me.
You’re all I want to be.
Don’t you know you can do no wrong
In the eyes of a child?
