It’s that time of year
The Iditarod’s here
My adrenalines pumping

My heart is thumping

I tugged at my harness, and howled to the wind
I wanted to run, but the hook kept me pinned
Then out of the blue the musher said, “Mush!”
And we were off in a very big rush

Running along through the ice packed snow
When suddenly the musher said, “Whoa!”
There in the distance was a big brown moose
I pulled and I pulled ‘til the hook came loose

The musher said, “Gee”
And since I was the lead
I turned to my right
And spotted the great Northern Lights

My musher said, “Haw”
And because he’s the law
I turned to my left to see a checkpoint
And I was glad cuz I had a sore joint

We were far from Nome
And much further from home
But for now I’ll just take a nap
In my musher’s warm fuzzy lap

I did this when I was in 6th grade from the point of view of a sled dog.
