Lemme Be Your Soldier
You fight a battle, as well.
A long lasting battle
That is unfortunately neverending.
A battle that is just as important
As the one that is fought
By the men that attire themselves
In fabrics that blend
With the forests of the foreign.
Those who die or are wounded
On the battlefield of war
Are rewarded with Purple Hearts.
Your battlefield lies
In all of your surroundings,
Because your conflct lies within.
You lose the battle,
And the reward that you receive
Is your lasting memory
That resides within loved ones' hearts.
The media have seemed to forgotten
To shout your names in praise
Just as loud as the ones of those
That serve for our freedom.
You fight for your own freedom
With the weapon of medication.
But Cancer never shows mercy.
