Stray
It’s no coincidence that I’m alone
On my own in this world
It’s no coincidence that I talk
 Only to myself and God
It’s no coincidence that I live on the streets
Coming and going when it pleases me
It’s no coincidence that I fight for my life
Just to live to see another day
There’s a reason why I only see my shadow
Why my shadow only sees me
There’s a reason why the sidewalk is my kingdom
 Why I rule the curb
 There’s a reason why I stay away
 Why I come no closer
There’s a reason why I howl to the moon
Why the glowing rock is my only friend
It’s clear to see that I am strange
That I am different from you
It’s clear to see that I have nothing
That I am stripped of my belongings
It’s clear to see that I am nonexistent in their eyes
That I don’t matter to them
It’s clear to see that I ran
That I uprooted all that I knew
It’s no coincidence that I know
Each and every person in this town
There’s a reason why I count the stars
Why I number the map in the sky
It’s clear to see that I made my way
 That I held my own
It’s easy to see, but not to understand
 That I am alone
 I am a stray
