what am I but a midsummers dream

fleeting in your mind like the winds of change

In your screaming for help

you accomplish nothing

except permanately scarring your soul

till there is no turning back

and all you can do is look into the abyss

and hope that I'm there to catch you

As you fall....

as the memories race past

back to a time when the sun wasn't so blinding

you remember me as not a devil

but as your equal

and the tears start to burn

wishing for a chance that you always had but never wanted

so now I exit through the door

that you slammed in my face so many times ago and watch you

As you fall....

As you reach the end of your journey

You hear my laughter and nothing but

screaming my name you cry for help

but where was you when I was screaming

so lost... was my soul

and no theres nothing for you to hold

and thats why the abyss is so cold

trapping you cause I am the devil

and your soul has been sold.

We never know how big we are until we are asked to rise.

Good job! I really like the langauge and the message and that it's not that hard to understand, but is still beautiful. The only thing I would say is that at the end when you said 'cause, it kind of took away from the beauty of the rest of the poem. But great job!
