With a tree above us
Like an umbrella but no rain
And a rock behind us that pretended to care
About all the little things we said

All the questions asked
Were the wind that stirred the leaves around us
Into a torrent of golden fire
They became too mindless in their romance with the sky
To ever notice that they had
Fallen back down

We shivered into the ground
Too cold to bother with time
Although the sun was setting into the hill
Before us
Promising itself that it would see no more

Over with the sun
The feeling in my heart went
The perfection lingered long enough
To slowly drive me sad, like a clock ticking in a hospital
