Father?
When I was little I wanted a pony
Father said I was too small
When I was bigger I wanted to play outside
Father said it was too dangerous
I went to school to learn to dance
Father said I wasn’t good enough
I got friends and wanted to go to their house
Father said they were too faraway
Out of school and off to college
Father said not to leave him
Finally an adult, married with children
My father said I grew up too fast
My father gone, left me alone
I see now what my father meant
