The Death
In the cold and empty field,
On the rotten stage,
During the chill of autumn,
The cold wind blows
Bringing with it the colors of fall
With the colors of fall,
Comes the colors of death
Black, brown, and grey
The autumn leaves
crunch under my weight
The reds and oranges as vivid
As life
In the midday sun
The children transfixed
On the simple piles of leaves,
that bring so much joy
Deep in their minds,
They know that the fun will not last,
For there is death
Right around the corner
The cold snow,
The long nights,
The blank darkness,
Underneath the colors of fall
Comes the cold death of winter
