lifetime in a moment
your hands were full of baby fat
 when I first laid eyes
 on your face.
they grew and smelled of cologne
 and grass when you first
 placed them on my cheeks.

 I'd compare them
to sheets and gloves and cream
as you tangled them around my own
and you'd smile as you said mine were like
 olive oil, silk and stone.

 but years have passed
 and you've gained callouses
 and scars.

so now your hands smell of cigarettes
and stress has rubbed them raw.
