Metal Voices
These things, you see -
Filled with metal, voices filled with lead
Dragging, dropping, voices clanking off voices
 Silver dust in the air.
 Tangible
 Like
A ripened cluster of fat grapes, twisted off the vine
 But not nearly so soft
 Not nearly so sweet.
 Voices like wine,
 Like grapes left to rot
Wine in metal glasses raised to the air in a
 Mocking toast
 Metal not oxygen
 In our lungs
Leaden, like the drop of a heart breaking.
 These things, you see -
Voices that fill up the whole air
 Leaving no room for breath.
