Nothingness
My ears open to the sounds around me but they hear
 Nothing
My eyes widen to the sights around me but they see
 Nothing
I try to feel something that’s real but still
 Nothing

Nothingness surrounds me, this void empty space
 Of Nothing
The prickly rock jabbing into my feet is all I feel.
I continue to walk with these weights on my feet
 Still I reach nothing.

 No destination
 No captivating scenery
 No taste to be tasted
 Nothing

I fall to my knees from the fatigue that haunts me
Crawling in desperation, I reach out my hand and feel a door
So happy and invigorated I open the door in hopes of finding something
But my heart grows cold when the truth unfolds to find that it leads

 To Nothing.

A firefly dances in front of my face
