Grow Into
I did not love you the moment I saw you.
To so many things I was blind.
I could not see the undying youth in your eyes.
I could not appreciate how good you look in stripes.
How could I know then what I know now?
Now I know you would love me,
If you knew how.
I dream about you now and then.
And I wake up feeling weak.
But most of the time I lie awake,
Trying to consider the touch of your cheek against my cheek.
I grew a little older.
I grew up to loving you.
Hoping you might grow in my direction.
Although, your innocence is what I love most about you.
