Birds
The golden bird soars down and lifts me high above my drowning place
I welcome his comforting embrace as he sings me a love song
The air is warm, the sky clearer than it was before the black crow swept into my abiding river
I was smooth and calm before he came with the wicked winds of winter
Heavy snow clouded my judgment as he lured me away from his protective place
His talons ripped through my soft, young skin
I bled hope and happiness; inhaled dread and despair
Thankfully, the soothing nightingale calmed me at night when the crow released me from his pull
Though, when the Sun arose and the cruel lark sang, he swept me up, away from my soothing place
Every morn, when the lark whistled his tune, the current pulled me to his aged, cold wings
The blue bird awoke me from my dark nightmare
He swept me aside and told me to resist the tide
The bird sung me a goodbye
And when the black crow came, summoned by the lark, I resisted with all my might
he left me, then, but shouted he would return
Before he could, the golden bird flew me away to our loving place
