I try so hard.

I try not to let words cut me, or bring me down.

Somebody calls me ugly, I say “What’s new?”

I already know.

I try to wear insults as a crown.

A crown of thorns.

I try so hard.

I was inspired to write this poem by my continued efforts to blow off insults as they come.
