"I've made mistakes; not one regret." Alyssa Nicolson

There are people in the world
That spend their whole lives waiting
For something they don't understand
Because death is something that only happens to other people.

Their eyes glazed and smile vacant
Somebody dies at the Warren Home
Another notch up the waiting list
Who notices?

Life goes on
Jerry still holds Dusty
And just because everyone dies
Doesn't mean everyone truly lives.

When you don't understand
Why everyone laughs at you
So you smile anyways
Because you want to be smart and to have friends.

Anyone can give materials or money
But only a select few can fully give themselves
To feed a grown man with a bottle
Such a simple task
That takes monumental courage.

There are people in the world
That spend their whole lives waiting
For something they don't understand
Because death is something that happens to everybody.

One of my favorite books is 'FLOWERS FOR ALGERNON' by Daniel Keyes. While reading it, inspiration struck and thus this poem. Hope enjoy it!!
