Change
Yellow eyes,
Peering out from behind
Black tinged trees.
The snapping of teeth
Echos through the silence,
An unspoken challenge.
Accept or reject,
Either way blood will shed.
Running underneath the stars,
Speaking to your god,
A beautiful harvest moon.
Change or be changed,
Either way it will never be the same.
Silent ghosts,
Slipping through trees,
Screaming a wolves curse
As the crunch of a spine
Confirms a change.
Eyes glaze over,
In a surge of pain
And pelts fall away
To reveal moonlit skin.
Claws retract
And jaws shorten
Bringing you back
To a weaker version.
One that holds a memory
Of lost sanity.

I really enjoyed writing this
I got the idea from the book "Blood and Chocolate." And I am hoping to tweak it a little, maybe enter it in a contest?
