Don't Worry About Me

I used to care but now I don't.
I used to love but now I won't.
I used to live but not enough.
I used to pray it was all a big bluff.
But now I see that it was real,
The fight I fought, the pain I feel.
So today I changed, I'm stronger now.
Strong enough to let go and let the tears fall down.
I'm done with the suffering, and I'm done with the pain.
So i swear tomorrow will not be the same.
So I walk away with my head held high,
And look my future in the eye.
And for once,
I do not cry.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece after I realized that some of the things I had gotten involved in, as well as the people i had gotten involved with, were not right. It was one of those rare times when I was able to completely let go and let the words flow out of me without thinking too much. After I was done, and I read the poem for the first time, I realized that it was about my journey, and how for once, in my mind, my story ended happily. It was this poem that helped me heal and improve, and I hope that it will help any reader do the same.
