Horseback Riding; My Heaven

I feel the wind whistling through my bright blond hair;
As she gallops, the beautiful mare.
She starts off with a slow, easy trot.
Is there anything better than this? I think not.

I honestly couldn't ask for anything more;
Then to feel like I'm about to soar.
Now we start to go fast
For forever, I wish this could last

Now it's time for us to part
And we have our heart to heart
I love this friendship, my horse and I
I don't want this feeling to ever die

This poem is about my relationship with my old horse, Dixie. Unfortunately, she died not to long ago. She was my best friend and I miss her so much. I love you, Dixie<3

This poem reminds me so much of how I used to love to ride. I used to ride a horse named Gandalf when I was in college. The love and freedom I felt is captured in this poem. I thank the poet for helping to remember my riding days!
